Who is responsible
The controller of personal data processed through snowballindex.com is Songpire AB (Swedish company registration number 559122-8944), Sweden. Questions and requests go to hello@snowballindex.com.
The short version
- The site has no accounts, forms or newsletter. We do not ask for your name or email address.
- Analytics cookies are set only if you click "Accept". You can change that choice at any time under Cookie settings.
- We use your IP address to work out your country, so that the site can show the right currency and platforms.
- We do not sell personal data and do not use it for advertising.
What we process and why
1. Visitor statistics – Google Analytics (only with your consent)
If you accept, we load Google Analytics 4 to see how many people visit, which pages they read and which platform links they click. Google Analytics sets the cookies _ga and _ga_YPQBY35683, which last up to two years, and collects page views, clicks on platform links, approximate location derived from your IP address, and browser and device type. Advertising features are switched off.
If you decline, or do not answer, nothing is loaded from Google Analytics and no analytics cookie is set. If you withdraw consent, measurement stops and the cookies are deleted from your browser.
Legal basis: your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR). Provider: Google Ireland Limited, acting as our processor. Data may be processed in the United States by Google LLC, which is certified under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework. Event data is kept in Google Analytics for 2 months.
2. Country detection
When you first open the site, and again after about 30 days, our server sends your IP address to the lookup service GeoJS (geojs.io) and receives a two-letter country code in return. We use it to choose a default currency and the list of investment platforms for your country. We do not store your IP address for this purpose. The country code is saved in your browser for about 30 days.
Legal basis: our legitimate interest in showing content that fits your country (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).
3. Settings saved in your browser
The site saves a few values in your browser's local storage: your consent choice, your language choice, the detected country, any currency or country you select yourself, and the latest index and ETF quotes shown on the learning pages. These values stay in your browser and are not sent to us. You can delete them by clearing site data in your browser.
Basis: these values are needed to provide the functions you use, or to remember a choice you made.
4. Hosting and server logs
The site is hosted by Websupport. As with any website, the server records technical data for each request, such as IP address, time, requested page and browser type, to keep the site running and secure.
Legal basis: our legitimate interest in operating and protecting the site (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).
5. Links to investment platforms
The site links to third-party investment platforms. Some of these links may be affiliate links. When you follow a link you leave snowballindex.com, and the platform's own privacy policy applies. We do not pass any information about you to the platform.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access your personal data, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to processing, to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that took place before the withdrawal. To exercise your rights, write to hello@snowballindex.com.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. In Sweden that is the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (IMY), imy.se. You may instead contact the authority in the EU country where you live.

We update this page when the way we process data changes. The date at the top shows the latest version.
